Isa & Alene Bajalia

Isa Bajalia is an American-born Palestinian. His parents immigrated from Israel’s West Bank village of Ramallah and settled in Birmingham, Alabama in the early ‘50’s. Isa grew up on Birmingham’s south side and was provided an American education as well as being reared in his native Palestinian culture and language. Isa was born again at age 14 at Glen Iris Baptist Church. At age 19, he began attending Living Word Church in Pelham, Alabama. Isa was called into the ministry in 1980 and began holding tent revivals around Birmingham and surrounding cities as well as having an active role in his home church. Isa attended Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, OK from 1985 to 1987. Isa met his wife, Alene, during this time and they were married after graduation. They have one son, Jarad.

In 1991, God opened a door of opportunity for ministry on the mission field in Jerusalem, Israel for the Bajalias. They taught in a private Christian School for Palestinian children for 2 years before going into Ramallah to begin a work there. In 1994, the Bajalias moved into the West Bank village of Ramallah and began visiting homes and businesses. In February 1995, they began services in their living room with 3 people in attendance. By November that year, the body grew to 35 at which time, the Lord provided them with a building. In 1996, the Bajalias pioneered a kindergarten, with children 3, 4 and 5 years of age. The Lord granted great favor and good success by bringing key people to enroll their children, such as Yassar Arafat’s pilot. This pilot is also a captain in the Palestinian Authority. He was willing to help in establishing both the school and church as a non-profit organization.

In 1991, the Bajalias were also asked by 2 born-again Israelis to begin a Bible study in their home. The Bajalias taught this home Messianic group for 5 years and later recruited an Ethiopian Messianic Jew to take over. This work has already branched into 2 other groups in Jerusalem.

They are presently involved in church planting throughout the West Bank and Ramallah.
